Reiki is a light touch therapy that promotes comfort and restfulness in the body and in the mind.
Ki in japenese means energy (same as Chi in Chinese and Prana in Sanskrit). It describes the life force, or vital energy of each and every living organism. Hippocrates, referred to this energy as the healing power of nature, the ability of any living being to find in any given situation or condition, the best possible state of well-being.
Reiki is also known as a form of energy medicine because it helps restoring optimal energy levels throughout the body. Reiki is considered effective in reducing stress and chronic pain, while increasing both relaxation and vitality.
A reiki therapy session is usually one hour long (50 minutes of hands-on treatment). The client stays fully dressed throughout the treatment, while lying supine on a massage table or sitting on a comfortable chair.
